There are a couple of options in your Settings area which are applied elsewhere in Alitu.

Let's take a look at one of them.

In Settings > Preferences, you can choose your preferred bitrate.

What's a bitrate?

Bitrate as a concept is actually pretty simple – in podcasting terms, the higher the bitrate, the higher quality your audio will sound. The common unit for audio is kilobits per second, and it just refers to how much data is stored in the audio file. The higher quality you're going for, the more data you need to store. We recommend that you use 96kbps mono as your bitrate - that's more than good enough for most shows - but you can select any of these 4 settings:

The only reason you'd generally select more than 96kbps is if your show has a lot of music in it. To keep music sounding good, especially when it's played alongside voice, you might need a higher bitrate. Music plus voice means more sounds being played at once, therefore more data required. That's why we might need a higher bitrate.
