Course: How to Launch a Podcast
This video series covers everything you need to do to start a podcast. This is mostly OUTSIDE of Alitu, but we know Alitu is just a part of the process.
Setting Up Your Microphone
The only microphone you need here is a Samson Q2U mic, which comes with a desk stand and USB cable. Plug it into your computer, switch it on, connect your earbuds or headphones into the mic, and away you go!
Recording a Podcast Episode with Zoom.us
Zoom.us is a great tool for recording a call with anyone on the web. It’s advantage is that it’s super simple – your guest doesn’t need an account, or software. All they need is a link, which you can send to them. On clicking that link, they’re popped into a chat room with you, all inside their browser. Zoom is free to use for 2-way conversations, so there’s no cost to run simple interviews, or co-ho
Submitting Your Show to iTunes/Apple Podcasts
The final step here is to submit our brand new show to iTunes/Apple Podcasts. This is a one-time-only task, you don't need to do this again when you publish new episodes. They'll update in iTunes and every other directory automatically when you publish them in Buzzsprout. You need to have at least one published episode in your feed to be approved/listed here. If you just upload a short clip of you saying "testing, testing... is this thing on?", it'll get rejected. Ins
Recording by Yourself
Note: We recommend keeping recordings under 10 minutes, as browser memory tends to run out much beyond that. But, if you need to record longer, you can by breaking up your files. The easiest way to do that is to go to Your Library and record as many clips as you need, directly in there. Saving and uploading for each one, before starting the next. We're working on a browser backup feature right now, so you don't have to do this in future!** This is where you can start to use Alitu – it

Installing Your MP3 Maker
We need to add something called the LAME Encoder to Audacity, so that we can create MP3 files - that's the file format for completed podcast episodes. Any questions? Ask away in the chat box at the bottom of this page.
Recording More than One Person
If you want to record more than one person, such as an interview or a co-hosted episode, then you have a number of options. I’ll list two very common options here, but you can certainly research more options if you're interested. Zoom.us Call Zoom is a freemium service which allows you to record 2-person podcasts and is very easy to use. You simply create a Zoom call in your account and then send the link for that call to your interviewee. They click the link and can join

This Quick Start Podcasting course is designed to teach you the minimum practical steps needed to publish a podcast. This is really all about the mechanics of launching, as opposed to the planning and strategy side of things.
