Learn how to send your transcript via your RSS feed to your chosen directories

Updated over a week ago

Transcripts make podcasts more accessible to a larger group of listeners. In Alitu you can easily add an Alitu-generated transcript to your RSS feed. This means that the directories can get this information via the RSS feed and offer an option to view the transcript of your show on their listening platforms. How directories display this will vary between the different distribution platforms.

Only Alitu-Hosted users can attach a transcript file to their RSS feed. If you do not host with Alitu then you should refer to your hosting provider on this.

At this time not all directories accept a transcript via the RSS feed.

How to include a Transcript in your Episodes

Once your transcript has been generated, tick the check box on your episode details page to include the transcript when the episode is published:

Apple Podcasts & Transcripts

Apple Podcasts now creates a transcript for each podcast episode you publish in their directory. If you prefer to use the transcript generated by Alitu, visit Transcripts on Apple Podcasts and change the availability setting to 'Display transcripts I provide'. Apple will then use the transcript in your Alitu-hosted RSS feed.

Spotify & Transcripts

At this time, Spotify does not ingest the transcript via your RSS feed. Therefore if you include a transcript for your episodes in your RSS feed then this will not display to your listener. Spotify auto-generates its own version of a transcript that your listeners can view.
