Setting up a 301 Redirect

This article provides instructions for creating a change-of-address for your podcast when you move to Alitu hosting

Updated over a week ago

Why have a 301 Redirect

When you move your podcast to Alitu, it’s highly recommended that you set up a 301 redirect with your previous hosting to retain your subscribers/followers. The 301 redirect tells directories and apps like Apple Podcasts and Overcast that you have a new host.

Please make sure you have imported all of your episodes successfully to Alitu before setting up the 301 redirect with your previous host.

Once you have the 301 redirect in place you do not have to contact each directory individually to update your feed. The next time the directory goes to check your old RSS feed, they will be redirected to the new feed here at Alitu. After that, they will begin checking your Alitu feed for new episodes.

Re-submitting your podcast to the directories instead of or in addition to using a 301 redirect can cause duplications and problems with people finding your podcast. Please do not re-submit your podcast after creating a 301 redirect.
