Your Alitu Podcast Workflow
Your Alitu Podcast Workflow

This is a quick start guide to give an overview of how to create your podcast in Alitu.

Updated over a week ago

Everyone has a podcast workflow that works for them. The following is a short guide as to how you can get started creating podcasts with Alitu. This workflow is a suggestion as to where to start, Alitu is flexible enough to fit you and your process.

Step 1: Creating an Episode

To create an episode you need to add a new episode, this is the basic starting point of how you assemble an episode (uploading audio or recording in Alitu) and edit. You can create a new episode by clicking the plus sign in the left nav bar or in the upper right corner of the screen as shown below.

When creating a new episode you will be asked to enter details of the episode such as episode name, host name, and season/episode number. Once you've entered this information, press "Save Details".

๐Ÿ“You don't need to enter all the episode details now, you can update and edit this later before you publish your episode. For more in-depth information on entering episode details check out our article "Entering Episode Details.

Step 2: Adding or Uploading Audio

You can then upload or record your audio.

๐Ÿ“Alitu allows you to solo record in multiple places. You can solo record when creating your episode (described here), in the Alitu recording studio or recording directly in your library. You don't have to start with creating an episode, you could record as your first step.

If you record with guests you will need to use the "recording studio" function, which is accessible via the "record" button in the left-hand navigation bar.

Step 3: Building your Episode

In the "Episode Builder" you can:

  1. Add an intro and outro

  2. Add further audio files or directly record more audio

  3. Insert transitions between audio and music files

  4. Edit your audio

  5. Edit or update your episode details.

The episode builder allows you to drag and drop each block to create the perfect order for your episode. This is useful if you have uploaded and recorded multiple files in one episode.

Step 4: Editing your Audio

You will edit your audio in the episode builder. Each "card" in your episode will have an edit button. Pressing this will take you to our audio editor. Alitu allows you to edit your audio via "waveform" editing or via transcription "text-based" editing.

๐Ÿ“For more information about editing please check out the following articles,
โ€‹"Editing in Alitu" and "Text-based editing".

Step 5: Publishing

When you have finished building your episode you can move on to publishing your episode. To do this hit the "Build my Episode" button at the bottom of the episode builder.

๐Ÿ“ You will still be able to go back and make changes to your episode even after you have pressed this.

You are then able to access the "publish" button. In this section, you can:

  1. Download your episode in an mp3 file

  2. Preview your episode

  3. Generate a transcript for your episode

  4. Edit/update your episode details manually

  5. Edit/update your episode using our AI-powered title and description generator

  6. Schedule your episode to publish to your third-party host or Alitu hosting

๐Ÿ“To publish automatically to your chosen host, you will need to set this up BEFORE you publish. To get set up check out these articles, "Hosting with Alitu" & "Hosting with third party".

You will also need to set up your distribution, for example, if you want your podcast to appear on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
